Can there be other ways of organising information that are yet to be created?
Your choice of organisation will depend on the story you want to tell. Each method allows a different understanding of the information.
There are many variations within each method, but knowing that the main choices are limited makes it less intimidating.
If you were preparing a report on the automobile industry, you could organise cars by model (category), year (time), place of manufacture (location), or Consumer Reports rating (continuum). Within each category, you might list them alphabetically. Your choice would depend on what you wanted to study or convey about the industry.
Organising knowledge vs applying knowledge
Knowing the structure of information helps you make sense of it and find value more easily. Different organisation of information can make your brain think differently
“The organization of information actually creates new information.” ~ Richard Saul Wurman
