In western music, there are 12 notes that repeat in higher or lower pitches. Each note has different frequency. The notes are named:

  1. A
  2. A# or B-flat
  3. B
  4. C
  5. C# or D-flat
  6. D
  7. D# or E-flat
  8. E
  9. F
  10. F# or G-flat
  11. G
  12. G# or A-flat

# means the note is half-step higher. flat means the note is half-step lower.

Notes in music tell you what to play during each of those ticks(ticking clock example). In other words, the notes tell you how long and how often to play a certain musical pitch within the beat.

Note is to explain how long a specific pitch should be held by the voice or an instrument.
