Information architecture is how we arrange the parts to be understandable as a whole.

  • The individual who organises the pattern inherent in data, making the complex clear.
  • A person who creates the structure or map of information, which allows others to find their personal paths to knowledge.

Turning non information, the stuff around us, the data in to an easier way to inform. Information architecture is the way that we arrange the parts of something to make it understandable. We rely on IA to help us make sense of the word.

Examples of Information Architecture:

  1. Links in website navigation
  2. Sections, labels, and names of things on a restaurant menu
  3. Categories, labels and tasks used in a software program or application
  4. The signs that direct travelers in an airport
